I love - and collect a lot of - stamped cardboard. Visual, nonverbal, symbolic communication abounds on boxes. These markings instruct, caution, guide, inform, and identify. Below is a sampling of some of the “puppets” used to make OTHER, which I created in the aftermath of the 2016 U.S. presidential election. I realized during and after making this that I was processing guttural anxieties about supposed supremacies, dominance, forced movement, tracking, policing, fighting, fleeing, and fear.
